The sculptures on wall of Old Castle,exclusively on Taiwan

The sculptures of the North Gate of Old Castle is exclusively on Taiwan. There are many old gates remain as Taipei, Hsin-Chu, Tainan, Heng-Chun ( all assigned as varying degree of historic site by the government of Taiwan), but no any other sculpture to be seen elsewhere. This is the pride of Kaohsiung, further more the Tsoying.

Turtle Hill section,Old Castle, Feng -Shan County

Here is wall of Old Castle,Feng-Shan County,at Turtle Hill. It is like the mouth of a turtle drink the water from Lotus Lake.The path is a main road at that time.There is a famous artist, Kinichiro Ishigawa 1871-1945,born at Shizuoka, Japan, been here to depict the scence of Lotus and Ban-Ping Shan,the hill in another side of Lotus Lake. Mr. Ishigawa is almost a pioneer of modern Taiwan art's renaissance.The famous artist then almost his students until now.
The wall here is destroyed partly by the mainlander since defeat by communist at 1949. They use the wall as part of house,buildings constructed without lincence.Since the democratic development,the wall is recovered by local government, and then assigned as first degree historic site

South Gate, Old Castle,Feng-Shan County 1825

The South gate,Chi-Wen Men( Activated Learning Gate), is also the remaining of the Old Castle. The second floor is newly, reconstructed at late 1960 era. It is occupied by the marine corps since late 1949 and act as major juncture between Tsoying and Kaohsiung Downtown.For the gradually silent Taiwan Strait, the military activity is transfer to another way, the importance of the gate is minimized. Then, the gate is referred to local administratin. It is now the cross point of Chung-Hwa Road and Tsoying Da Road. From the ancient map, it is near the "Snake Hill", now the Tao-Chi Yuan camp of Navy base

East Gate,Old Castle,Feng-Shan County

East Gate of Old Castle, Feng-Shan County,Ching Dynasty. There is a road, Dong-Men Road( East Road) in front the Gate, is the first road of Kaohsiung, even the whole Kaohsiung County and City, Ping-Dong County,and Taidong County( all included in the control of Feng-Shan County), and now only 200 meter remaining. The gate named as "Feng-Yi Men" means phoenix is coming, for it is said the phoenix is coming from eastern side. It is also assigned as first degree historic site by the Interior Department of Taiwan Government.

The castle is established at 1825, and not been used as govern. center, yet. Then, old castle is called in contrast to new one at now Feng-Shan city, Kaohsiung County.
